Hello all,

I am new to this forum (after lurking a few times over the past year). I am an owner of a 2002 Durango and I am a regular forum member of the Durango Owners Club (DOC) Forum. Since that forum is declining, I was hoping to join a more active forum. This forum looks to have alot of members and traffic.

Some questions:
Why become a member (other than to support this fine organization financially)? What do members get that non-members cannot?

Why is there an offroad section in the Open Forum and in the Members Only forums?

Since there are many more posts in the Open Forums, why would any members use the mmebers only section to post?

Any other info for a newbie like me would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Don't pay to join this site, it's a waste of money. It's a zoo.

I am a member and will not renew when the time comes. The only benefit is that you can use the Members only area, but hardly anyone posts there. Also, no one can use your username to post. Right now anyone can post under CanyonD, but I'm the only one that can post under Timberwolf.

No registration means any yahoo can post anything they want, it can get ugly. However this is still the best site for Dakota info. The powers that be certainly don`t believe in censorship but it is their choice and it makes this site very easy to access.(for good and bad)

I'm sure Mark is happy with his current situation but I'd like to bring something to point. The cost is a bit high to consider joining for me. And then to make it an ANNUAL thing?

I enjoy this site a lot, even the whinning at times, it's a great place. For that reason I'd be willing to pay, say $20 to be a member, but not annually. For that reason I haven't joined. It seems to me that to grow this business (and I can tell you that regardless of perception, a website IS a business) there are two options. Make the fee structure less steep either by making it a lifetime membership or lowering the annual fee. OR.. Lower the benefits to the non-members so that there is a motivation to join.

Personally, I'd make the site a free site. That way everyone has a unique name which does away with a lot of the bantering. Everyone can have a profile which would increase the core readerships sense of belonging, therefore RAISING traffic. With that raised traffic you could sell the ad spots that are currently in use at a premium. I'm positive he could MORE than double the sites net gross income and cost the readers not a penny, while giving them a better product. I'm not speaking off the cuff, I have experience in this area. (One of the FEW things I actually know about!).

I'd also develop the front page a bit more with some unique content to keep people coming and offer even more stellar advice.

I love these forums (I've only been here 3 months) but see so much potential here that could help Mark AND the readers, that I thought I'd mention it. BUT, as originally stated I'm sure Mark is happy with whats kickin' here and I KNOW that this site is a great help, so I guess I'll do what I shoulda done 4min ago, say "THANKS!" and I'll shut the h3ll up! LOL. Thanks,

This site has helped me a lot in the past 2 maybe 3 years. It is set up in a manor that is very easy to follow and understand. I like the fact that there is a search bar, and you can type anything in to find out past posts.

When I saw that it was 20 bucks to become a "member" I remember thinking to myself... what a big waste of money when I can just see all the info I really need to know for free.

Even though www.dodgedakotas.com has served me well, I have started using a site that is becoming bigger and bigger everyday. The best part is.. it's all free fellas. The site is... www.dakotausa.com I just hope that people from this site decide to move over there just like I have so that then it will be as good as this one. I say if you are a dakota owner, or a dakota feen like me... become a member to www.dakotausa.com for FREE!!!

Just go check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Paul from Texas

P.S. Becoming a member to dakotausa.com instead of dodgedakotas.com is like getting 20 bucks towards your next mod. on your truck. Think about it fellas.
