I've been shopping around for quite some time and have finally decided to go with 6 1/2 MB quart speakers, does anyone have installation information for front and rear speakers??? I don't want to just start pulling things apart, I have a 2000 Dakota Club Cab.

i dont remeber excactly on the rear speakers but im pretty sure the panels are simply held on by little pushpins. the panels should come right off, but be careful. the doors are simple. 2 or 3 screws on the botom of the door panel. one under the door handle. after that that panel will come right off.

Ok, I got the door panels off and the stock speakers out. I am trying to install Boston Acoutsic 2-way speakers but they do not have the 3 large tabs like the stock speakers have so dropping them right into the stock plastic mounting ring just is not going to happen. I was given some "adapters" and told they might help but I am clueless as to how to make even the adapters work. They are Scosche SAC-656 adapters that the audio place gave me with the speakers.

Before you install those 6 1/2 speakers in the rear doors, you might want to consider installing 6x9s back there. Yes they fit, just make spacer out of MDF and seal both sides with thin rubatex or door and window caulk. Then center the speaker over the factory hole and drill your pilot holes. Be sure to seal your pilot holes with rust preventative, and solder the connections then drop them in. I have infinity kappas in my Quad, 6 1/2 Mid Bass in front, tweeters mounted in the front corners flush in the headliner (looks factory), and finally the 6x9s in the rear.

Z-Tube, R/T Rims, SSB Rear Disc Conversion, Alpine Head-Unit, Infinity Kappa Speakers, SilverStar Headlights, HO Cams & Intake installed.

Got H.O. ?

I just got to looking at my stock speakers that I pulled out of my front doors, my drivers side speaker is a plain old stock speaker and my passenger door had one of the Infinities in it. I did not pay for the upgraded speakers in my truck but I guess they ran out of stocks when building my truck and had to throw in an Infinity to fill the hole. Now, the whole reason I pulled the speakers was because I had a blown one...in the passenger door, glad I didn't pay to upgrade to Inifinity speakers since that was the blown one.

I installed tweeters on another vehicle I have, I think the tweeters would work better on the doors. It's more directional aligned with the ears than putting them on the dash. Might sound odd, but the output of tweeters isn't very loud, you have to get close to even notice any output from them at all, so direction does make a difference. Might try hooking them up unmounted and moving them around the vehicle, see what sounds best.

I mounted mine higher, closer to the seat without being blocked by any other objects. I agree with Kennugesser, the placement of the door speakers sucks, but so do the stock speakers. Mounted in the dash would have been better.
