Subject: Anyone have a Dodge/Mopar Bed Mat??
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm really considering getting a Mopar bed mat
set (bed and gate protector) for my new '01
QC 4x4. I don't want the drop-in hard plastic
bedliner, since they trap moisture underneath
and tend to scratch the bed, and have
potential to rattle. I'm also leaning away from a
spray-on such as Rhino. One reason is cost,
the other is that it's permanent.

The mat won't protect the wheel houses or the
sides, but my concern is the bed floor, which
probably sees 90% of impacts, scratches,
dents, etc.

Also, the bed mat is cheap at about 150$, is
removable for washing, and is light. And that
would leave some $ left over for some cool
diamond plate bed rail protectors.

Thanks,

Cheers,
Luc

I have one that I got from my Dodge dealer. It is not marked Mopar. It's probably 1/4" thick. I didn't put the tailgate part on yet as I just got thru building the cover for the bed. It does save the floor of the bed but does nothing for the sides.I screwed mine in the back corners to the truck so someone couldn't "borrow" it. It fits the short and long bed. It is marked to be cut off for the CC truck. Hope this helps.

I picked up a generic brand at my local 4x4 shop for $80.00. Fits pretty good. Only issue is that it does expand a little when it gets hot from exposure to the sun. Has a little wave in it when really hot. It does protect the floor of the bed quite well and looks nice in the back with the contrast of the Patriot blue and black rubber mat. I also got the black plastic rail protectors that add to the truck greatly! I don't think I would spend $150 on a mopar when I could get a basic rubber mat anywhere from $50 - $90 instead.

I saw a Dodge mat in one of the QC's on the lot. It looked really nice and had a huge Ram's head logo making up the center of the mat. I was also considering getting this mat or the bedrug.

I had a cheaper version of the mopar bed mat. It looked really good and worked great....until I was on the freeway. You get what you pay for. STAY AWAY from the cheap mats. Anyway at about 75 miles per hour it blew out of my bed and I couldn't stop to get it. So please don't get a cheap one.

I have the nice high quality Dodge mat in mine and it started to lift up a little in the back of my truck on the highway but didn't blow out.

Mind you I was doing 115 MPH.

Hey Jeffster,

Do you still recommend it considering that?? I
guess doing 115 mph wouldn't be a common
occurance if at all for me....i've got the 4x4/4.7/
auto....don't even know if it will do 115,
hahaha.

Would it be possible to bolt the mat down at
the corners?? Of course this would require
drilling the bed, but maybe be worth the extra
security.

Turns out the dodge bed mats are cheaper here in Canada. $169 CDN (about $112) from my local Chrysler dealer.

If the bed sides and wheel houses were to get
dinged up over time, then I figure at that point I
could do the spray in. Until then, i'm really
leaning towards the mat, for cost and
versatility reasons.

Cheers,
Luc

Darkapple. I am from Canada also and paid around $110+ tax CAN. Don't bolt it down allthough. It was shimmying at 187 KMH it didn't appear that it was really going to flying out of the back. It's a great mat and I have had it for over 2 years with various crap thrown on daily it and it's still unmarred.

Jeffster,

$110 + tax CDN!!!??? (or is that converted to
US$???) Please do tell where you got this
from....although if it was 2 years ago, maybe
they jacked the price!!!

Thanks,
Luc
