I have a cheap piece of sh&% frameless cover on my truck now that I hate. It is allready beginning to tear. Any suggestions on a good quality framed cover. I'm looking to spend around $200.

I have a 3 1/2 year old Extang on my '97. It still looks really good from a distance, but when you get up close you can see where it is tearing out around several of the snaps. The mounting frame is OK but the suport bars have fallen out of thier mounts several times and landed in the bed with a loud bang, and the support bars also show wear (severe) where the mounting screws have gouged into them. funny thing is, I can't figure out how as they are about 1/4 inch above the screws at the lower position. From where I sit I would not buy another Extang until they fix these problems.

Extang has come a long way in the last few years and is considered a leader (if not the leader) in tonneau covers. Anyway, for Extang and other brands shop online at http://www.tntserve.com/
for very good price and customer service.

Do you guys know if these framed tonneau
covers fit over diamond plate bed rail
protectors?? I just got my new '01 QC 4x4
Sport and was thinking of getting the diamond
plate bed and gate rail protectors. I'm also
considering a framed tonneau cover, but my
priority would be the rail protectors. Tonneau
cover would only be to carry stuff on long trips
in case of rain. Most of the time I'd be able to
carry things in the back (lots of room with
seats folded up).

Thanks,
Luc

I have a under the rail bed liner, which the liner goes up and covers the front of the bed and I have the tail gate protector which goes over the top of the tail gate.I put the Daimond Plate bed rail protectors on to bring up the height to make it even all around to put my cover on that has a rail system and it worked out very good.I have a 2001 Quad and Dee-Zee makes the custom fit Diamond Plate bed rails.

If you're thinking of going with the Extang check out the new Full Tilt model. I have one on my '01 Quad and it is the best cover I've ever had. Tilts fully up and down like a giant trunk. you can either roll it up like a traditional tonneau or you can easily remove the whole cover completely snapped as one piece and have a wide open bed. Very high quality too. Also fit over my bed caps. Might be a bit more than $200 though but shop around.
