FL or anywhere else it gets hot! I want to get cold air for my 5.9 from behind and below the headlight. However, I'm thinking in the summer it would be drawing the hot air coming right off the asphalt. Would someone take a temp about two feet high and at four feet and compare? Thank You!

It's the middle of winter? The temp readings won't do any good, wait until summer when the pavement is steaming. I live in Las Vegas, NV where it gets 110-120 degrees and the pavement definately throws off heat. I don't think you should be worried about the pavemant heat issue though, look at all the sports cars out there with the air intake low to the ground. Don't see them with a snorkle attachment to pull in cooler air from above the car. However, I have seen some cool air kits that pull the air from below the car.

Air from outside the truck, where ever it comes from, is cooler the air under the hood. On a hot day here the truck temp could go to 220 degrees, that's what your engine would be sucking in if the air filter was in the engine bay. Doubt if the air 2 feet off the ground is 220.

Just my 2 cents,
