Hi fokes I am looking to buy a 1994 Dakota 5.2V8 4x4 auto four speed SLT club cab the main thing is I need to know is how much can the truck tow (mopar hitch) not on the bumper the sticker on the mopar hitch says 5,500 lb. I was not sure if this was a one size fits all stickers or what.

Paul, That sounds about right. The max towing on my 02 QC is 4750 lbs with the 4.7 V8 and 3.55 rear end.

Paul, by the way that sticker is what the hitch will pull, not your truck. But as I said, you can probably pull around 5k depending on your rear-end and tranny cooler ect.

That is what I was thinking about the sticker myself. And even if the Max is 4700 that is still in my range the race car weighs about 2100 lb. and the trailer I think is 600 maybe so I am still in there.

I got a 4x4 auto 3.55:1 rear and the max towing for me is 5300 lbs which is rated on the window sticker.
If you got a 3.92 then you might be right about the weight that you posted.

I have a '95 with a class III hitch (after market) rated at 5000 lbs. I believe the GVW of the truck is rated at 8200. I would need to verify with the owners manual on that.
Mine is a 3.9 6cylinder 4x4.

Do you have a club cab Dan?
I would think that my 318 should handle a bit more than 5300 lbs. But that's what it says on the window sticker.
