Has anyone looked under the hood of the new durango? The motor sit way back under there just like in a mini van. If you ever want to do anything to the engine it might be hard to get to. I hope they dont make the engine bay of the next dakota like that.

Let's see. In the later 80's early 90's CHEVY started to do that with their Camero and Firebirds. I thought that was crappy, you could hardly remove the valve covers!
And just before I bought my DAKOTA I looked at FORD which I kind of liked and their 4.6 is stuffed kind of back as well. That's how their front end looks so short.
I defintely like the way my 4.7 sits in this truck I have. If they go and cram the engine back in there I may not buy a new one next time. That sucks.

I stopped and looked at one and your right the motor is way back in the bay. the Hemi the TB sits under the wiper cowl. Thats why the dash is a mile wide

It helps distribute the weight for better cornering, but makes it a pain to work on.
They really don't want us to be able to change our own spark plugs any more.
I hope you guys have small hands. Are there any access panels through the firewall like regular vans have?

Yeah its a shame how they designed this thing. I would have personally liked a big engine bay. But I guess they want you to take it to the dealer to get any work done on the thing.
