I know this subject has been beat to death here but im gonna get a straight answer. My balljoints went at 83k (good for these trucks ive noticed) so i had them all replaced at a local auto shop for $700 in 6/02. I believe they used napa or carquest parts. Now its 11/03 and I needed a new set of tires. Went to the firstone dealer and had them put on dueler a/t revos and also to look over the front end. They came back and told me that all 4 ball joints are shot already. Truck now has 114k on it. 31k / 18 mo on a set of ball joints? Doesnt seem right. Gonna have the dealer check it and tell me what is up.

Now i have read on here that the a arm bushings go bad too and was thinking about just putting ball joints and bushings in it. What i am really getting at is what brands of parts should i be looking for. Ive read Moog ball joints are good but are they gonna last another 100k? What about bushings. Havent found a vendor yet.

Thanks for your time.

The Moog joints wear just as fast as any brand out there. It's not the quality of the part it's the design. Dodge used a ball joint that was way too small in their initial design. It has nothing to do with having Zerk fittings either.

Just another poor quality mechanical design from the masters of poor quality mechanical design.

I just replaced mine again. 48,000 on them. Moog in, Moog out. I had a 1/4" play up and down on the lowers. Now I can check the uppers but I feel it, it needs them.
I hear Moog went to a 1 year warranty so I'll be doing that now, checking every year. The guys who did them last time didn't put a Moog # on the reciept so it comes out of my pocket this time.
