 Subject: Cap, use one not made for Dak?

I am looking for a used cap and have been unable to find one under $500. I am not interested in the looks of the cap, just the function of hauling my St Bernards on long trips 2 or 3x
s a year, hence not wanting to buy a new nice one. I have called on a few lately that just had cap. Is there any other caps from another truck that I can use with the clamps and just get by on. I have gotten the answer yes, but am just wanting to make sure that someone besides the person trying to sell me their cap tells me the same.

My guess is probably not. However, the only way to tell for sure is to measure it the cap and to measure the mounting lips.
If you don't care about looks, you should be able to make one out of plywood for around $150. You could probably make a frame out of 2x2s and use 3 sheets of plywood. (1 for the top, 1 for front and back, 1 split lengthwise for the sides.)
