Unless you guys live here, it's hard to fully grasp whats happening here.

This is a frickin' nightmare. Everyday I wakeup thinking "The worst HAS to be over", but it just keeps on coming and growing by the hour.

And now my parents house is in the path of this monster:(

I know it will all be over at some point, but I hope it doesn't take my parents whole lives with it.

yea so far an area about the size of rhode island has burned, that is just crazy if u think about it. luckily im not too close to the flames but the ash and smoke has been pretty bad. and it looks like it will be quite a few more days before the firefighters have control over it so its gonna get worse.

When I was a kid (35 years ago), I lived in that area (Rialto, near Preston Elementary School) and we had the same thing happen. I remember having our suitcases by the door just in case we had to leave. My dad would hose down the roof and I remember burning ashes falling into our back yard. I remember seeing flames cross the road that lead up into Lytle Creek. Of course, 35 years ago, there were A LOT fewer houses, so this size of a burn would not get that many houses. It still brings back not too pleasant memories

Darryl, I certainly hope your parents are OK and their house survives.

The "Perfect Storm" - drought for several years, hot Santa Ana winds, low humidity and higher than normal temperatures - AND an EPA and Cal "environmentalists" that will not alow the thinning of the forests, and a state legislature that prefers to spend money on illegal aliens than the removal of dead trees, killed by the now famous, Bark Beetle!!!! What a crock of sh+t!!!

On top of all that, it is fire season in Cal - the time of year when the arsonists crawl out from under their rocks.

Before I retired we had a summer home at Tahoe - 5 acres, wonderful house - could see the lake from our back deck. And the state and Feds refused to alow those of us that owned property - I repeat, OWNED THE PROPERTY - to cut down trees in an effort to make the home more safe from fire - nor would the state alow forest thinning.

What you are seeing at Arrowhead and other mountain locations is to some extent the result of your politicians at work!!

I feel badly for those of you directly caught up in this terrible disaster.

Las Vegas in the past 2 Days got all the Smoke blown from all the fires in our Direction...first time since I been in Vegas that it was not sunny at some point in the day....the sun looked like a glowing Red ball in the sky like something out of a movie, It never really broke through the smoke filled sky....The air smelt like burnt wood (made it hard to breath) and small ashes were falling...This is small peanuts compared to the heartache California is going through...but just wanted to show how far reaching these fires affect is....

SoCal this.... SoCal that.... everyone in California brags so much about where they live that when a fire or a earthquake hits I let out a cheer or two. Between the fires, earthquakes, liberals, homosexuals, and wetbacks should tell you something about california.... it tells you SoCal sucks.

Yeah so cal may suck at times but even when it,s at it's worst the people of so cal can be thankful for one thing...FIREYUM lives somewhere else...we know how to handle all the things that you think are a problem and then some, you obviously don't have the mentality to be able to know what to do when the toilet begins to overflow...must happen alot being that you are full of it...and as for Bearshlt...if you didn't care then why did you bother to waste your precious time to read a post that is specifically marked so cal fires..get a life you losers

That really hurt. I feel for them I really do. But unless your Dakota was burned up or you did a G.I. Joe thing and saved a bunch of kids from the fire, I think those kind of posts need to be directed somewhere else.
