Hmmmm ... is it the look? or the V8?

Look? V8?
Look? V8?
Look? V8?

Okay, I give. I'll just give both answers! hehe

It's truly a ONE of a kind. Style, size, V8 power. Nissan's 4 door is too small and "tinny", Ford's SportTrac has a plastic box for a bed (makes it quite ugly IMHO) and once again, the Toyota 4 door is overpriced and over rated - no V8 either!
- I'm a very satisfied QC owner.

The looks and power definitely sucked me in, but I wasn't completely convinced until I actually drove one...

I had one as a "rental" about a year ago. It was so much fun to drive and from that day forth, I swore that if I bought a truck it woud be a Dak...

I just really want to see what it can do in the snow come January - March.

Yes, the looks are in a league of their own, when compared to:

Ranger (uninspired)
S-10 (tired styling)
Tacoma (worse every time they change it)
Frontier (GACK!!)
Isuzu (why... why...)

HELL, yeah, the V8 - especially the 4.7 - blows doors on any of the others, and has seemingly lots of upgrade potential. It just plain feels GOOD... can't keep my foot out of it!

The real feature that sold me on the Dakota, however, was the size. As a former S-10 owner, the Dak interior is considerably larger, even the short bed has plenty of room (how often do you REALLY carry sheets of plywood?), yet it feels and handles like a compact. Try getting outta your Dak, then into a Silverado... it feels massive.

Yep. Dakota. The only pick-up that rightfully qualifies as a MID-size. Perfect!

The look and the looks we get. Living in remote nevada, you can go for miles on the highway with no other traffic. BUT, when I see a chevy, ford or other inferior SUV/truck up ahead, I love to pass them. But first, as I pass, I pause beside them. Once I see that look of envy in their eyes (takes one second), I then fly right by them with the 4.7!!! Have done this many times and have yet to find anyone who tries to go faster. They just sit in awe as they wonder where the closest Dakota dealer is so they can do a trade in.

I must say, you guys put a smile on my face. Every vehicle has its problems but overall I'm very impressed with my QC Dak and its 4.7. I have a '91 YJ that used to be my daily driver and has always been my 'baby'. Because of its 33 MTs, 5" lift, and every other upgradeable component, the ride was beginning to blow. (Except rock-crawling:)). I went out looking for a new car so I could have my Jeepy sit and be babied. I test drove several vehicles and was looking for something to fit all categories. I drove the Xterra; too cheap & cheesy (I think I was comparing it to my YJ). The BMW 328; nice but interiors are getting cheap and have been known to fall apart. The Acura 3.2; overall nice, too much road noise and felt like an accord. The 2-door Accord V6; nice but even less than the Acura. 220hp maxima; very nice and was in the final running. Durango; sweet but everyone I know has one :). Dakota Quad Cab; very little cab-noise, interior was adequate, shitload of power, universal with the bed and full bench in the rear. I was looking for overall bang-for-the-buck and the Dakota 4.7 was one good looking truck with everything I wanted for a decent price. Of course, I'm lift happy so I was picturing it lifted later. Even without the lift, and its minor flaws, I'm still happy with my choice. It's been nearly a year now. I'm still eagerly awaiting that suspension lift though. I think my YJ's jealous :).

Keep up the great and funny posts!

I've never really owned a manually shifted vehicle before so maybe I'm biased but this is just way too much fun!

I can't get down the 1/4 too fast/quick but I chalk that up to inexperience. I'm learnin' I get a new personal best every time I visit.

Currently an embarasing 16.2

I have 01' kota, V6 auto, short WB, dark blue, 16in. wheels, fogs, motor up grades ect. No stickers on the truck. Looks smooth and fast. I like it when the fords, chevs, ect. pull up next to at the light or on the interstate and look and will not try any thing. No way of telling if it is an 8 or 6. Can you smell the fear?????

I had a "dak" with the magnum v8 it had more than enough power and I liked it very much. However... I had LOTS of small problems and the fit and finish was as expected (poor) I purchased a Tacoma with a v6 and in 5 years had not had so much as a rattle...nada... nothing....zip! I have not changed one part (except oil and oil, air filter) not even brakes yet. Toyota make the best designed, best produced truck. Sorry just my opinion.
