Subject: Gas and Engine Per. Tip

Message:
Try using M.M.O. (Marvel Mystery Oil). Use 10 ounces to a full fill-up in a Dak's tank (22 U.S. gallons presumed)

Benefits:

1. Acts as an upper-cylinder lubricant to take care of that critical area that splash-oiling from the crank does not really see. Puts a fine (poor man's blue printed) polish between the ring/cylinder wall contact travel.

2. Totally lubricates your fuel system from fuel pump in tank to the injectors themselves. Will quiet that injector tick. Keep using this product with each tank and run your tank until the light comes on.

3. You can run ONE QUART of MMO to 3 quarts of oil in your crankcase. This treatment is fantastic to put a very good break-in and polish between the cams and their respective lifter and all other wear points ie: crank journals, etc. It can be used with natural as well as synthetic oil.

ONLY use one liter/quart to either three or four quarts of the oil and brand of your choice. You will love what this combo will do in the first 200 miles!!!

You can add MMO to EVERY OTHER oil change for economy, or to every one like a habit. Remember, it REPLACES ONE QUART/LITER of OIL that you'd put in.

Adding MMO to both your fuel and crankcase will give you a great edge for fuel and engine performance/longevity.

MMO is a high-detergent/high lubricity, fine 'break-in' oil that will benefit your engine for the life of it.

I don't work for them, I only RAVE about their product, as it works, just as they advertise, and for the applications they suggest.

Your fuel mileage, idle, and torque will improve to your satisfaction.

Run three tanks of treated gas, as well as one quart/liter to your crankcase and only after that start (giving the product time to work) looking/expecting performance improvement

P.S. IT also works to partially stabilize gas. It was not designed to do so, but works that way anyways. It is not a substitue for STABIL, but I thought that I let everyone know that it has that side-benefit as well.

Cheers!

Gov, (smile), no comment by you, but merely a link obviously infers that you think this tip as 'snake-oil'.

Ok...no problem, other than it works. Performance is noticed. Not 'I think performance'. I have above-average MPG as reported by others on this board, as WELL as a rock-solid smooth idle. In fact, my son recently on a ride with me could not hear or feel the 5.9 running.

Snake-Oil?

You and other's will try or dimiss as it makes them in or out of their 'comfort zone'.

Cheers!

WHY DO YOU NEED TO LUB YOUR FUEL SYSTEM

Your fuel system on an injected engine is pressurized. That means, there are pumps, with shafts that pass through seals ie: fuel pumps,on some, injector pumps, etc.

Also, MMO having good cleaning properties keeps the injector nozzles at full performance. The spray/dispersion patterns remain unadulterated.

Just some of the reasons.

Gas, merely by itself does not have enough of a latent purging factor for keeping injectors at premium performance. Old, stale, adulterated gas will IMPEDE performance as per manufacturer's specs.

Yep, it's good stuff. Everything from engines to actually being used as a brake fluid in my old go-cart. It is not snake oil, but it is slick stuff.

I heard they call it that because its a mystery what it does. Polish the upper cylinder ? That area is honed, not polished, so that the rings will seal well.

Hi Kowalski!

Your rings in fact 'polish' by their reciprocating action for the life-time of your engine. What oil really does, is to act as a '
sacrificial' barrier between the two conjoining surfaces, the cylinder bore and the rings you mention. Adding MMO to the oil mixture enhances that 'polishing' action by taking the 'mountains' of metal on the surfaces of the bore and rings, if viewed by an electron microscope to as flat as possible, and therefore providing a better seal between the rings and the bore. This means less blow-by of contaminents into the oil itself as well as smoother performance all around. In fact, rings will even with the BEST oil that money can buy, EVENTUALLY wear to the point that a good sealing contact with the bore is no longer happening! That is the time you 'notice' that your engine might be 'due' for a overhaul. :)

There is NO SUCH THING as wear-stasis (a point where there is NO LONGER any significant wear happening) inside a reciprocating engine. Changing your oil, perhaps putting in MMO if you see the value, will retard that wear-factor, but not delete it. MMO in partnership with the oil of your choice will certainly go a long way to retarding that ring/bore wear! This of course applies to cam/lifter and crank-journals wear points as well.

Cheers!

Sesquash,

Think about these points:

Marvel Mystery Oil contains solvents in a mineral carrier. Many of these solvents are lighter fractions of petroleum, and will thin-out your engine oil.

You are going to have, as a result, a thinner motor oil and a modified additive chemistry that may be harmful.

Almost every oil company states in their technical sheets not to add aftermarket additives and there is good reason - aftermarket additives change the "delicate balance" of additve chemistry.

The problem with all of this type of "shade tree" mechanic work, or adding "marvel mystery oil", ... is that the people who practice these things think that if the motor just starts and runs afterwards, then the nonsensical thing that they just did was "safe".

For instance, if their camshaft goes flat a few months down the road -- because they ran it with insufficent lubricity or film strength -- they will never connect it to their "shade tree" antics. Not to mention all the harm done by multiple people taking an anectdotal story (which may not even be true), from what may be a special case scenario, and extrapolating that it will work for all cars and circumstances.

Maybe gimmicks (one of which is adding and/or using Marvel Mystery Oil) worked in your grandfathers engine, ... but engines are too sophisticated to gamble with today.

I invite anybody's input. Opinions, or reports of use, either positive or negative, is what makes the board worth coming back to. Right?

Right!

Somebody feels the need to now impersonate me. I did NOT post that 'THANK GOD FOR COPY AND PASTE'.

I will now no longer post under my handle SESQUASH. I don't know how somebody 'ripped off' my handle, but being the case, DO NOT think that because you see SESQUASH from this post on, it was from the original owner of that handle.

I enjoyed the sharing of ideas, but of course, I assume that the imposter is going to try some harm.

Thanks,

Hijacking of names is a hobbie on this site and is one of the reasons people become members ... to prevent such happenings.

I am a paying member (Member Name "AmsoilSponsor") but people still hijack my name and post using AmsoilSponser. See the difference ... "or" vs. "er".

YES ... my reply was "copy and paste" ...

... but from MY VERY OWN ORIGINAL THOUGHTS AND WORDS ... from another thread on this website under the subject line "Marvel mystery Oil".

Thank you!
