I've always heard that vehicles that come off the assembly line on a Monday or a Friday are more likely to have sloppy build quality and thus more likely to be lemons. My Dak came off the line at 6PM on a Thursday and seems to be one of the good ones, which is consistent with the theory. Since there is so much conflicting advice on this board depending on individuals' experiences ("Don't buy a Dak, they're junk" or "I love mine, it's been great"), I thought it would be interesting to see how many problem-ridden trucks actually were built on a Monday or Friday. So anyone that cares to, check your MDH code on the tire pressure sticker (inside driver's door) and post it and your overall experience (good or bad).

That Monday or Friday thing is an urban legend. The old saw goes that car everyone was hungover Monday and couldn't wait to get the hell out on Friday so vehicles built on those days are crap.

I live in a town with 3 GM plants and I can tell you that most of the people there are equally hungover most days and can't wait to get out every day, so the Monday-Friday bit goes out the window.

According to my sticker, my truck was built on a Wednesday and it's had warped rotors, ball joints wore out, sway bar bushings replaced...the usual.

It's design and quality of supplied parts, not date of manufacture. Remember, all the out-sourced parts on your truck were supplied by the lowest bidder.

Two things. First, I've had the usual parts issues too - timing chain stretch, warped rotors, ball joints eventually I'm sure - but way more things are right with the truck than are wrong with it. Second, I've talked to people who worked in Detroit auto plants who told me the Monday/Friday thing is absolutely true. I'm not saying I believe everything I hear, but it certainly depends on who you talk to.

BTW, the reality (if there is any) behind the Monday/Friday thing has to do with the higher rate of absenteeism on those days, not with hangovers or poor attitudes.
