 Subject: zerks, ball joints, what year?

I just bought a 94 dak v8 4x2. It has zerks on the ball joints. In what year did the Dak lose the zerks? Was it in the bodystyle change in 97 or has my 94 had new joint?

my older 98 dakota had al of the grease zerks and it still ate thru 4 sets of lower balljoints and 2 uppers and 2 tie rod end sets all in 79K miles- I greased every 2-3K miles -- my new 2004 has no grease zerks at all anywhere-- it is much more heavy duty than the 98 underneath , but the 98 was a 4x4 ext cab 3.9 v6. 4 speed auto tranny , heavy duty suspension. etc. 3.92 open differential , 8.25" rear end ; the 2004 is a 4.7 , 5 speed auto tranny , 4x4 with heavy duty suspension, 3.55 , 9.25" limited slip differential and ext. cab and every part underneath looks heavier built and less fragile. I wil have to wait and see how long these balljoints last. but at least these are riveted in place on the A- arms and not just spot welded in place
