Subject: Buying a dakota?
IP: Logged

Message:
Hey guys I have a ford ranger, but I really want a dakota. I want a 97 or up, but I don't know if my budget will allow it. Currently if I get what I want for my ranger I will have about $8,000 do you think this will buy me a newer dakota? Oh and by the way if anyone is interested in my Ranger please email me at compute_a_nerd@yahoo.com for more info.
Thanks
Chris

8K won't get you much......get another Ranger, cause Dakotas have alot of mechanical problems.

Actually we have had just the opposite experience in our family. We have had 4-5 dakotas, and all were driven into the 100 thousands with few-no problems
Thanks

You should be able to find a 97 and up Dakota for $8k. There is one locally with the asking price of $6995. It's a 97 Club cab. So you should have a problem finding any.

Hope this helps
Dan

Get one that is a DaimlerChrysler Dakota. Consumer reports gave all others terrible reviews for reliability. Diamler bought it around 01...needless to say, you probably won't find one for 8k.

Look on www.autotrader.com, you can search your area. I check the the price of Daks quite often, 8K should get you somthing pretty good.

You should be able to find one for that price. If you have $8,000 cash, you shouldn't have any problem talking someone down. I would caution you to do your research on the truck before you decide that you want a Dakota. They are great looking trucks, and I have yet to drive a pickup that rivals how fun it is to drive. That being said; I wouldn't buy another. It has cost me too much in repairs for a truck with only 56k miles. It is a '98.

Why limit yourself to a '97-up? The right '92-'96 can be a sweet ride, with money left over for mods.
