Subject: Cummins in a Dakota ?
IP: Logged

Message:
I am currently in the process of installing a 4cyl B series Cummins 3.9L engine in a 90 Dakota. This is the same engine as in the larger pick ups offered by Dodge exept two less cylinders. I think this is truly is a "one of a kind" project but one never knows. Has anyone out there ever seen or undertaken a engine like this in a Dakota?

Sounds like a fun project. That will be a nice little ride when you get done with it. The diesel engine will give you better power and efficency than the gas engines. Keep us posted on how it turns out.

Hmmm... so you're saying the tranny bolt pattern is different between the 6-cylinder and 4-cylinder versions of this engine?

Is it a direct drop-in, or do you have to modify motor mounts?

I think the 3.9 Cummins is also available in a 6 cylinder.

Did you know that the 5.9 ISB and 8.3 are both 4 and 6 cylinder options?
