I'm getting ready to put power door locks on my 2002 cc dak and have been shopping for aftermarket power door lock kits. Some of the actuators have 2 wires and some have 5 wires. What is the difference in the actuators and their function? I also want to install switches on the door panel. The kits I have been looking at are on eBay, does anyone know where else I can look for a kit. I checked 3 auto stores (auto zone, etc) and they did not carry them and said they couldn't even order them--seems strange. Thanks for any help.

Thanks mwillis61 (Mike)- I checked out the web site - looks like they have pretty good stuff - still don't know what the difference between 2 wire and 5 wire actuators is, does it have anything to do with wiring in a switch - can anyone help? Thanks

This is what i ws told by the person who installed mine.

With the 5 wire set up if you were to unlock/lock one door with the key both doors will unlock/unlock, with the 2 wire setup you have to unlock/lock each door seperately.

I put a set of power locks in my 95 Dakota. The 5 wire power lock motors are master locks. They control the slave (2 wire) lock motors. So if the system is wired correct, when you lock one of the masters, they command the slave ones to lock. Same for unlock. So think of the 5 wire units as a switch and lock in the same box. I put masters for both doors and slaves for the tailgate and camper shell locks. That way if I locked/unlocked either door, the tailgate and camper shell did the same.

Great-thanks guys. This answers my question about the 2 and 5 wire system. I will order the 5 wire actuators and find someone smarter than me to hook them up. I will let you know how it goes. My Pilot fog lights are suppose to be in tomorrow so I will tackle that job over the weekend.
