THANK YOU Thank You thank you to whoever set this
site up and the great people who contribute. This site
alone saved me hundreds if not thousands, had I taken
my 99 3.9 Dodge Dakota Club Cab Sport into the shop.
I noticed my Dakota having transmission problems
when it would take longer than usual to shift into the
next gear. Fearing the worst because 3 years earlier I
paid $3200 to replace a transmission in a 96 Voyager. I
checked the fluid and found it a 1 quart low my bad but
not enough to cause this is it? I added fluid and it did
nothing to help the problem. A week later I was shifting
my truck in every gear before I would drive off so it
would not get stuck in 1st gear, it seemed to help. This
went on for another week as I was trying to diagnose
the problem when I found this site. It sounded like the
speed sensor but my speedometer and cruise control
worked and my ABS and brake lights were not on but
my check engine light was on. On my way home from
work it would not come out of first gear. I haven't a clue
about cars but thought I would give the speed sensor a
shot before I take into the dealer or transmission shop
the next day. I bought a speed sensor form Autozone
for $27. I thought it was to go on the rear axle, visually
the part matched the sensor on the lower left back part
of the transmission, I replaced it within 30 minutes, next
time it will take 2 minutes it that easy. IT WAS FIXED,
100%. I then disconnected the battery for 30 minutes
and the engine light went off. Thanks again.
