Subject: No stereo after replacing battery!
IP: Logged

Message:
Help. New Dakota owner without owners manual. I had to replace the battery in a 2001 Quad cab, and now the stereo doesn't turn on. The time isn't even showing. Is there a code I need to input to get the factory stereo to turn on?

sounds like you might have blown a fuse, check the fuse panel and see if the fuse is blown for the radio,it might even be the head unit itself.your truck should be under warranty, so take it in and let them fix it.and if all else fails try turning it on.

i'm not trying to sound like a wise-guy but if
nothing lights up,you probably blown a fuse in-line with the harness that comes out of the back
of the stereo or there may be a fuse under the dash somewhere. good luck

There are usually 2 or more fuses that are linked to the radio. Maybe one of them is blown? You can pull your fuse panel off by hand. Its located by the drivers side door jam, on the side of the dashboard. Insert finger in hole and pull off. The fuse panel will have 3 spare fuses, and a fuse pulling tool to make it easy. There will also be a schematic (sp?) of the fuses on the pull away panel telling you which one is the radio. Pull it, check it, if blown replace it with a duplicate fuse. Car should be off, and be sure to seat the fuse deeply and correctly. Blown auto motive fuses will have a missing wire inside of the fuse as a indicator.

Hope this helps.

Already looked at the fuse, no problem. The radio has three equalizer slide buttons. The amber lights on these slide switches flash bright, dim, off constantly, so I know it's getting power. Is there a code that needs to be entered to release the stereo?

Some radios do have a code that you have to put in. In my camaro you have to put in a code every time the battery is disconnected or the radio is removed. Not sure if the dak's need a code though. I'd check all the fuses first....btw..the code for my camaro was just 000 so you might try that

all DCX Radios do not need code to turn on, there is a power problem. Interior lights work?

All the lights work. I can't tell if there is a under the hood light, at least if there is, it isn't comming on. Checked all the fuses, both in cab and under the hood, none blown. I guess I will take it to a dealer and see if it is still under warrentity.
