Wow, I checked the timing before and after the mod. 11 degrees before and 15 degrees after(initial timing). Keep in mind I have no aftermarket computer mods. Upon testing it, I floored it (((without powerbraking))) and the tires spun 10-15 ft. It has never done this before. It always hooked up and accelerated. At 60 mph it accelerates to 70 much faster and pulls harder on full throttle. This seems to be the BEST mod out there that didn't cost me a penny. It adds 4 degrees of timing across the board. All that was involved was taking off the crankshaft sensor, taking out the rubber grommet, elongating the bracket holes so you can slide the sensor ((far right as possible toward oil filter)) and tightening the bolts back down. DONE. It's amazing what this MOD did. It's probably comparable to a Hypertech Computer Chip if not more. It works on all 92 and newer Dakotas. Check out KRCperformance Timing Mods for more. Good luck and enjoy.

How do you access it?

From above under the aircleaner,
or from below behind the exhaust pipe?

Can I just drive up a curb, crawl under the car and get to it or do I need a lift or ramps?

If it's that easy, I wanna try it!

I did that mod. All I got to say is WOW never knew what i was missing now she accelerates with a vengenance even in 100 degree weather and absolutely no pinging. I have done quite a few mods to my Dakota and all I got to say this one was by far the best one. Just got to remember to set it back when SMOG Inspections come around since they check timing now too.

Tom,

Some people, (me), have a 4.7 motor. (Glad I do actually).

I checked it out and found this in their explanation.
"This will work on any Dodge truck 92- to present except for the 4.7L or the V-10."

By 'dealer' taking out 4 degrees, this sounds suspiciously like the 'death flash'. I don't have it on my 2001.
