Has anyone used the Amsoil Air Filter (I believe it's a two-stage foam oiled type that utilizes the stock intake)? How does this filter compare to the K&N, stock, et cetera in the way of filtration, flowrates, and real world benefits such as hp and mpg (Steve - maybe you can help out here)? Thanks in advance to all.

Eric

Hey JES,
They are the best air filters that I have ever used and they are very easy to service.

AMSOIL also just introduced a "New and Improved"
version of their two-stage air filter.

Can't wait to see it !

Jes,

I visited the link to your photo's so I know you are real.

Question: Why is the Hot Tub empty? LOL

K&N gets good reviews and some not so good. Same with Amsoil and OEM.

Forget the HP gains and the MPG gains ... DIRT IS THE ENEMY !!!You want FILTRATION with no (or very little) restriction of flow.

I could write a whole book on air filters. It is 8 PM and my wife is dragging me away from the computer. I'll get back to you.

"No-Name" FLAMER !?!?! "EyeTrip" perhaps??? ... I am not Dr. D.

Dr. D.,

The new filters are called Amsoil FlowzAir and I recently received the new brochure and it is in the latest catalog. Available shortly, the most popular first, Ford, GM and Dodge trucks. TS-189 is out for the 2003 Dodge trucks and it replaces Mopar #53032700AA.

Jes,

The wife is dragging me away but I want one last post ... I'm willing to concede some shapes of K&N flow better than some Amsoil filters, but for the most part they are fairly close - again the KEY is FILTRATION. Do a UOA (Used Oil Analysis) and check close at the Silicon levels when using K&N. They seem to "sometimes" be pretty high with some of the K&N's. Do your own test ... don't take my word for it.
--------------------------------------------------

P. S. ... For the uneducated Flamers ... Silicon is "sand" ... the higher the number ... the more sand that is passing thru the filter. We all know the consequences of using sandpaper.

Steve, I have been meaning to ask you about the "new" air filters. After reading the lastest blurb about it in the AMSOIL newsletter, what it looks like is some fancy new packing and cool blue color. Please prove me wrong. What the specs were that were listed sounded just like what my AMSOIL air filter already has/came with that I bought almost 2 years ago. Thanks

Thanks Steve ... How would I go about getting a catalog with the new filter information? I looked up the filter on the website and only found the one (older one I presume). I'm interested in ordering one of these, but would like to compare the prices of the old vs. new and get a little more information on the differences between the two.

Oh, and BTW, the hot tub isn't empty ... everyone's using their scuba gear ... :oP

BigBlue QC (Artie),

To date, I have only the same information that you have already read in the Monthly Amsoil Magazine. There are brochures available, but I have not placed an order for them yet. I am talking to some of my associates in the filtration industry to see who, when, and where they are going to perform independent studies. I'll be certain to post any and all infomation when available.
--------------------------------------------------

Jes (Eric),

Click thru the link below that takes you to my Amsoil Website. The fourth (4th) button down on the left hand side of the home page reads "FREE CATALOG" ... Click there and the rest is as easy as eating apple pie. By requesting your catalog from my website, you will become part of my network. Thanks for asking!

For the record, Thanks to everyone that has requested a FREE AMSOIL CATALOG. The response from members of DodgeDakotas .com has been fantastic. Continue to support all of the site advertisers, supporters, and sponsors - and we will continue to be here for you.

BigBlue QC,

Here is a quote from a satisfied Amsoil FlowzAir Customer:

"I had two of the older versions, one in my 2001 GMC was a real tight fit to get in. Your hands got dirty and its was messy to install. I put in the new TS123 last week and it just dropped in. The fit was perfect. The blue EVA seal takes the place of the form fit seal. It makes installing them a snap. The other went into my 2002 Trans Am and was the same, perfect fit an easy to install. They also come packaged in a better plastic bag so no oil can possible leak out prior to opening."
--------------------------------------------------

I will keep looking for testimonials and or test results.

The Mobil 1 High Efficiency Oil Filter is the most advanced oil filter available for consumers today, offering unsurpassed filter durability and exceptional filtration capability. When used with Mobil 1 Synthetic Engine Oil, this filter provides the ultimate in engine wear and cleanliness protection. Removes more contaminants via a substantial improvement in multiple pass filter efficiency (95% vs. 80% for conventional filters) by using a synthetic fiber media. It also offers significant improvements in filter durability, both in hydrostatic pressure testing (steadily increasing pressures) and in cyclic pressure impulse testing.

The Mobil 1 High Efficiency Oil Filter outperforms conventional filters by 2.5 to 1 in hydrostatic testing, and by 3 to 1 in cyclic pressure impulse testing. Reduces resistance to oil flow while improving filter efficiency. Easier removal of the filter at the end of its useful life (less straining with the oil filter wrench) based on use of a special gasket that requires less torque at installation. The Mobil 1 High Efficiency Oil Filter is available in a wide variety of sizes to accommodate a broad range of consumer automobiles and light trucks.

Yes "Uhhh.." I think it was.

You notice how I promote my products (without discrediting others) because it is "one" of my business's and it is fruitful and makes me money as a reward for my hard work. I also enjoy communicating with customers from 40 different States, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, and the military Guys and Gals around the World (Uncle Sam pays the shipping costs).

"Mobil1Luver" likes to promote others products when he gets no reward for doing so. Go figure !?!?
