Subject: tailgate loading capacity

Message:
Has anyone out there with a dakota loaded a motorcycle with the person on it weighing say 900 to 1100lbs total, using a ramp on the tailgate?

I have just purchased a three peice aluminum ramp with the capacity of 2700lbs, but now am concerned wether the tailgate with hold up to the challenge.

The heaviest motorcycle I would be loading is approximately 800lbs plus my weight of approximately 240lbs at total of 1040lbs.

I have considered taking off the tailgate to load the bike but really don't want to, plus with the wheel base of the bikes I may need the little extra length the tailgate will provide as I have a clubcab dakota.

Let me know who has done something like this and with what results.

Thanks

FL 4WD,

Hey do you think I could borrow your three fat chicks to test out my tailgate?

If nothing else I can test my shocks out.

Thanks for the laugh, it probably the best response I have received so far.

If you want to see some of the other supposedly serious replies, check out my post on the V8 dakota forum.
