Truckin’ & 4X4 Nationals
October 11th & 12th, 2003 (Sat/Sun)
Firebird Raceway - Phoenix, Arizona

Two days of Drag Racing, Show n' Shine, 4x4 Off-Road Test Drives, Tough Truck Competition, Monster Truck Freestyle Competition, and Motorcross Stunt Exhibition. Pre-Registration party available Friday Night at Drew Brothers Custom Shop near Firebird Raceway.

Last year we had approximately 35 Dakotas in attendance, and hopefully this year promises even more! In addition to all the Dakotas, there was approximately 20 Lightnings, as well as a number of other 10+ second trucks and even a handful of 6-9 second pro-class trucks... This event has a lot to see and do throughout the weekend, definitely a show worth attending!

Just like the last two years, Firebird Raceway is offering a group discount to those of us who pre-register. Groups of 20 or more receive $15 off of the $50 entry fee. The entry fees ($35/vehicle) must be collected in advance and submitted all together to get the discount (this is how it worked in 2001 and should have worked in 2002, they only made the exception because of the last minute arrangements).

A list of attendees and the pool of funds must be sent to Firebird Raceway by Friday, October 9th. I will be collecting names and fees from now until then. If you are definitely planning to attend but either can't or don't want to send in entry fees yet please e-mail me your name and contact info (phone/e-mail/etc.) so I can put you on the tentative list to make sure we'll get at least 20 people. I would prefer people send money orders or checks just so there isn't any processing fees at the bank - I can take PayPal but it will cost about $1.50 extra and needs at least 3-4 business days to transfer to my bank.

It's traditional to stay at the Super8 motel that's just down the road from Firebird raceway, conveniently located right off of I-10. The hotel's phone number is 480-961-3888. Here is the hotel's website: http://www.the.super8.com/chandler03073. Their normal room rate is $59.99+tax/night. If we get 10 rooms, the rate drops to $49.48+tax/night. I currently have 15 rooms (very optimistic, just in case) reserved under the Dakota R/T Club, because it didn't require any deposits to hold them until 30 days before the event. If we want the discounted rate then you must register through me and pre-pay the first night as a deposit sometime before September 9th. Please let me know if you're interested in a hotel room so I know whether I need to cancel the reservation and let everyone arrange their own rooms at full rate.

Contact me via my website or at SinCityRT@dakota-durango.com if interested in attending.

There are two big sections to the event - Drag Racing or Show n' Shine. If you want to drag race, there is about a day and a half of test n tune passes, then bracket races starting around mid-day on Sunday. Last year there was about 5 different classifications for trucks based on E/T.
