Have you heard? There is a recall coming down the pike for the ball joints for the Durangos. Not sure if the Dakotas are also included. I just talked to the service manager and he has heard about it, but not directly from Chrysler - but from the news on TV!! So he does not have all the details yet.
I am actually taking mine in tomorrow to have them look and hopefully replace the ball joints. Then wait for the recall to come out and wait a few more months and have them do t again!

guess we will have to wait and see.

well it might be old but its something that every dakota/durango owner should know about.

The NHTSA (i think thats it) is doing an investigation on all durangos (98-2003) for front suspension failure linked to the ball joints. Right now there isnt any talk about recalls but just them checking into it after having four reports (i thought it took more than that) of the failures.

Interesting fact. I am having front end problems with my 2000 Dakota Sport. Was just going to get front end re-aligned. Would appreciate any more info on this if available.
