Subject: My Dakota is making noise....need help.

Message:
I have a 2002 V6 3.9L 2WD Dakota Sport that has about 15K miles. I've been noticing a couple of annoying noises since I have had it:

1.) A creaking/clunking noise when I turn to the extreme right or left. - when turning could I be hitting that "knuckle" metal thing with the rubber on top that's behind the wheel? sway bar?

2.) Squeeking from the rear everytime I hit a bump.

3.) A sort of whistling/putting type noise that seems to be related to acceleration. It gets faster as I go faster.

4.) A slight squeeking coming from the engine when stoped at a light. Maybe some belts need to be tightend?

Any ideas what could be causing these things or how to remedy they? Any help out there would be very appreciated.

Thanks!!!

1) a ball joint might need to be replaced, jack up your truck, and try to move the tire around, you can use another jack to put pressure on the control arm while doing this, but if it moves at all, then you need to replace the ball joints

2) the squeeking in the rear is either your leaf spring bushings or sway bar bushings, you can either replace them with some good ones that will last, or you can grease the stock ones you have for a temporary fix, ive heard of some people using belt dressing to do this...i would pick up some polyurethane bushings

3) not sure, maybe you've got a supercharger...haha

4) does it do it more with your A/C on? Your serpentine belt might be worn down. replace it with a gatorback.
