...Ryan Newman's #12 win at Pocono makes 4 victorys in 2003! Any help from the sponsor's product? Probably just a race team that has their act together. Hooray for Lance Armstrong, too!

My brother works for Trek and he assembles the frames for Lance Armstong's bikes. Kind of a neat thing to do.

I personally can appreciate Lance's efforts. I competed nationally as a USCF cyclist from '69-'78. Back then, the USA riders usually finished around 40th place in world-class competition. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think the USA would dominate this sport some day.

When you get to that level in auto racing, there is no telling what they use. I have heard all kinds of stuff - special oil formulations for just one race, secret additives, Redline, Schaeffer's. Mobil1, Torco, Amsoil, and special racing motor oils from Europe. The Mobil1 they use at the track is a special (not for the public) race oil, something like a 5w-60 or a 10w-60 I think.

Right on James, For racing, depending on what level of racing it is, people are using Redline, Amsoil, Mobil 1, Schaeffer's Oil, or even oils formulated just for that event. At some Indy and Cart races I heard that they were using AGRIP (don't know if I spelled it correctly), an Italian 10W-60 synthetic racing oil. I've been in many garages with a press pass and seen it with my own eyes. Race teams can not use off-the-shelf oil formulated for the street with detergents, anti-corrosives, minimal barrier additives, etc ...

It is very common for companies to be race EVENT or SERIES sponsors. In return, they require all the cars in the race to display their stickers, regardless of whether the team is using the product or vendor.
