I've gone 275/60/17 on the back, they fit the wheel-well just fine but started to have a bit of balloon look to them. I think any wider would need a 10" rim.

I run 275/40/17 all around without a problem. I know a guy with a Cobra who runs like 295s on his 9" wide rims. 275 is a good fit.

I have 275/60/15's on a 15x8" rim and they are fine so I couldn't see a problem with 295's on a 9" rim. I used to have 235x70x15's on a 6". I believe thats the max they will hold. What was Dodge thinking when they put 6" wide rims on these in 1993?

its not the same wheel but the same size.. parents have 17x9.5 wheels on the Z28 and have 285/35/17... they seem to be a perfect fit.

There use to be a guy with a R/T running 315s on his R/T rims. Thats like 12.5in wide! But, the company who made them doesn't make'em any more.

WicKed R/T I have Nitto 555R 315 35 17 on the rear of mine with the stock wheels. Nitto still makes them, but they are a Drag Radial.
'99 RC R/T, PPH headers, Flowmaster 50, No Cat, MSD 6a, BTM, IAT adjuster, Powerdyne Supercharger, M-1 4/2, Mopar PCM.
