No vehicle is perfect. Parts have a lifespan just like we do, the more abuse we inflict on ourselfs the more likely were are to break down at a early age just as our vehicles.

I have a lil '93 Nissan Sentra that I have had for the last 8yrs, its jsut went over 100,000 miles and I have to admit i would'nt get rid of it for nothing but with that said, I have kept it up to par with frequent oil changes and services and took care of it. The interior still looks new!
Bad vehicles have alot to do with bad owners, bottom line.

My 97' Dakota has 39,000 miles on its and everyone I know thinks its a 2000 or 2001!
Up keep is that name of the game. Although the CAT went out but that was fre to replace so I'm not bitchin'

Mechanical parts will fail, no doubt about it but how soon depends 95% on the operator!

I love to see when someone post's a BS comment, then when questioned about thier facts dances and dodges around the point even to the extent of completly changing the subject. That is standing up for yourself and your point."

who changed the subject of this thread to "people who screw 75 year old ladies"? this problem only points to one source. his momma didn't beat him enough when he was a child. I think both of you should shut your mouths. gotanRT you have spent 6 years of your life working on cars and think you know everything. Well you don't. Just because a car is running rich doesn't mean the o2 sensor is shot. It could be a number of different problems. Some people need to grow up on this forum.

Osyrus,

Re-read the original post carefully. 1Flamed92Dak stated that, "...Dodge builds about 700,000 Dakotas and Durangos a year and roughly 10% have problems so why are you guys snivelling. Trucks and Cars are machines they are prone to break and malfunction its only as good as the person that designed it and the people that put it together."

Not only is that idea totally stupid crap but wanting a new $25,000.00 truck to perform flawlessly, at least for the first year, is not asking too much. Instead DC floods the vehicles with marginal, at best, quality. What some morons don't understand is that we've been building cars and trucks for over 100 years now so it should be pretty easy shlt by now.

Upkeep has nothing to do with getting stuck with a poorly built or defective vehicle. The claim was made that a 10% defect rate is normal and acceptable. If bad paint, bad ball joints, bad brakes and bad steering racks was acceptable then every vehicle built would have those. As it stands, getting one or all of those seems to be the luck of the draw.

I know people who have had perfect trucks right off the bat and people who got stuck with lemons. My Dakota has had approximately 10 warranty fixes and I had to pay to have the front rotors and pads replaced. Now it looks like I need new calipers. This is not acceptable on a 2 year old vehicle that is maintained religiously and leads a very pampered life. The only thing is if I jump ship it's jumping into the unknown.

Since I am a 25 year Dodge driver, I was happy when DaimlerBenz bought out Chrysler. I believed that DaimlerBenz would infuse Chrysler with a more quality conscious business ethic. So far they've failed to and as far as I can tell it's just status quo.

Danny...There is only one reason for that, a whiner has not served his purpose until he has annoyed this piss out of someone. A Dodge Dakota forum is the easiest place to do that for him.

Also, once again, I will backtrack and try explain a previous point. Dodge, much like all automakers, builds vehicles that the American public can and will afford. They have to keep in mind that we are spoiled on features, gadgets, comfort, styling and safety. I prefer NOT to have to spend more money to get a Dakota. I like mine like it is for the price that I payed. Unlike a few snivelers here, I understand that failures happen, to all makes and models, and that vehicle owners are responsible for their repairs. Obviously some people expect out entitlement system to expand enough to make vehicle ownership cost less to satisfy their whiney needs. How in the heck do you people make it through an entire day without getting your butt kicked for annoying normal people?
