I need some major help here. I have a 1987 3.9L 4x4 with the A 998 904d auto. First some background. Got the truck and went through the motor (previous owners fault, he didnt know what max towing limit meant). Got a replacement motor through advance auto. new radiator, torque converter, flywheel, starter, fuel pump, rebuilt carb, battery, distributor, cap, rotor, wires, and plugs, probably more but i cant remember off the top of my head. now my problem. My truck for no reason that i can find stalls. it does it when its warm, cold, dry, wet, up hill, downhill, or on flat ground, on or off road. sometimes it will start right back up on its own, but usually it will turn over but wont start for about 5 min. then its fine, or it isnt. depends on what mood its in. My transmission is the only thing showing an error code and that is for a bad overdrive valve. but my truck doesnt have overdrive or it isnt working. it also shifts rough going into 3rd, the lower the rpm the worse off it is. any help will be very much appreciated. thanks all

Man, I had the same thing happen to me the otherday. I was merging onto the highway, hit them ripple things and lost power. Had to wait 5 or so min and she fired up and was fine. Never did it before and I hope not again. If you have learned anything let me know. By the way, i have an '88 4X4 3.9 Auto with 143k

Havent found a thing out yet. Does your transmission shift hard going in or out of any gears? The only thing i can think of is the truck is trying to go into overdrive but ends up with a vaccuum leak or something and just dies out.
