man does it look just like the accel coil I had on there. The coil is the "performance replacement" coil from MSD. It fits in the stock location and it looks exactly like the accel coil it replaced. I never have like accel stuff and I was worried about relying on accel, hopefully the msd part holds out. (97 dakota 4wd cc 5speed 5.2)

I just sent my Accel coil back to the factory to have it checked/replaced under warranty. This is my second bad Accel coil in a little over a year.

I believe the Accel boasts slightly more voltage (45,000 VS 42,000, I think) than the MSD. However, if it can't stand up to the high spark output of the MSD 6a, I'll have to try something else.

Did you have any trouble with your Accel coil?

never had trouble with this accel coil. But I have had alot of trouble with previous accel products, distributors, coils, wires, plugs. I am a former drag racer and I had nothing but trouble with accel products. I eventually switched to in some cases mallory and in other MSD, using autolite plugs in all cases. Never had problems with either. I had accel plugs literally explode in the cylinder several times. The ceramic tips would disentigrate and even the metal electrode would bend or blow off. Tried autolite and it never happened again. I thnk MSD stuff is pretty good. What disturbed me was how incredibly simialr the parts looked. I mean apart form the color of the casing they are an exact match.
