i have just took my 97 dakota sport 4x4 to a local shop to get this noise looked at. they thought it was the back brakes,it wasnt that they took the back plate off and found metal shaveings all over the place. they said and i looked at the gears the spider, and the limited slip gears had a lot of wear. one of the gears also had a piece missing and they are starting to look rounded. i dont drive off road or drive like a mad man. has any body had this happen to them. the truck only has 60,000 miles on it.
