Ok I know this is a little personal but I bought a 2003 4x4 4.7L dak. I'm just finishing my current insurance policy (progressive) because wnen I bought the truck my premium was only supposed to go up $11 a month from what it was when I had a 00 chevy s-10. (By the way it was a good truck but 2 wheel drive 4 cylinders are fo old ladys.) Anyway I thought It was a really good quote and I didn't have to switch companies so I went with it.. As it tures out it went up about $80 a month, a bit more than 11. So i'm shopping around but all the quote's I'm getting are around $275 a month. (LOL) I haven't had a speeding ticket in over 5 yrs But i did have 1 accident about 2.5 yrs ago.(minor damage to both vehicles no injuries). And i'm 25 so I would understand maybe $180 a month maybe but 275 c'mon. I just want to know if any of you guys know of a cheap ins. company and how far off this quote is from yours. Also I live in DE which I hear is supposed to be cheap?????????????
Any help would be appreciated.
thanx

I guess it would also depend on what kinda coverage you have/want. Here in KS, I go through Farmers and my insurance is 140 a month for full coverage, also with 1 speeding ticket (under 10 mph) and im 21. deduct. is $1000. With a $500 it is $180 a month. Alot of agencies will give you discounts for good student, driver training (wich is like a safety class), or if you have more than 1 vehicle you can get a multi car discount. also I was told by one agency when I was shopping around that dak's for some reason are rated higher than most other trucks. I dont know how much help i have been but good luck.

Wow...I guess my insurance rates are pretty good. $375 for 6 months, $250 deductible, the truck is in CA (I'm in Korea, and still carrying full coverage on the truck). Even so, it's never been over $450 every 6 months. And I just got a quote for $513 every 6 months on a new Mustang Mach 1 that I'm considering buying to go along with my truck. I'm 35, had one minor accident when I was 16, and had one speeding ticket in 1996 for 79 mph in a 60 mph zone. Oh and I pay $50 every 6 months for basic liability for the 92 Hyundai Elantra I'm driving while I'm in Korea.

But I'm in the military and insure through USAA...I think they only insure military, former military, and government employees, but I'm not positive.

I'm just over $100 a month, also through USAA. Dad's in the reserves, that's how I got in. But I also have a year and a half remaining on my record on a wreck that was declared my fault After that, I hope it goes down. I'm also 30.

One thing to try is an independent agent, they represent several companies and can usually find decent rates. I found many years ago the major companies seem to charge considerably more.

Well, first I would check to see if there was a mistake with your driving record. Some times other peoples tickets can show up on your record and when the insurance company looks to see if you have gotten any tickets they find more then what they say you said on the phone. I agree, 275 a month (1650 for six months) is steep. My daughter works for Statefarm and when they call to varify records they find people try to lie and leave out things. I'm not saying are trying but people do. The other thing I see in your post is that you went from a four cyclider to an eight, that is a big jump for the insurance companies.
