I checked out some prices for trucks I would consider buying and chose all the options I want. It turns out that a new 4x4 V8 dak would cost more than a new 4x4 V8 silverado with all the same options. I know you will say you have to pay more for a better truck, but I could save $1,500.-$2,000. by going with the chevy. hope I see you guys someday again.

So what,
Looks like andrew wants to try a Chevy, it costs less and sports the same features then it's good. I love Dakotas, I've tried other trucks and they don't work for me... but that's me! andrew is fully capable of buying a Chevy... liking it... and I'll still like him, no questions asked. Ignorance abounds here but it's not andrew's ignorance Ed Henry, it's yours. You bash him for mispelling dissapointed, then you mispell "apparently." In one sentance, you're what's wrong with the world Ed Henry. I'll see you in hell when I get there.

P.S.
the mispelling was a trigger happy "ar" combo, my bad, doesn't happen much. Thanks for your equally immature response "Sava", takes one to know one I guess

andrew, im not tring to knock you, but look at the big picture. you can save $1500 on buying a chevy, but you will be spending more than that in repairs. if you do buy a chevy keep your dak, that way you can have a back up truck when your chevy dies. good luck

Eric

Hey I bet after a year of filling up that great big boheemeth of a truck you will wish you had a 4.7 Dak. There is a reason the Dak costs a little more. You get what you pay for. Just kidding and enjoy your truck. I hope to find a new 270hp 2WD Silverado to add to my kill list.

This will sound a little silly but a 2WD Toyota T 100 gave it a shot but anyone that owns a Dak will know the outcome. This exaust systems growl draws them out in hoards. I was lined up with a brand new Cobra Stang today but wisely avoided a confrontation and we both cruised slowly away. He also seemed gun shy or wanted to let me egg him on, still need a few more mod's to pull that one off.

On a happy more personal note ex girl friend (she asked for her engagment ring back today so mabye there is some hope for me yet, sorry Candy but she's a ten!!) said she was about to have a shower when she heard the truck coming down the street so she got dressed and we talked.

I love the sound this exaust makes, very deep and unique. If anyone is intrested check out Flo Pro. You can't get it in a Cat back kit because it's a custom install but I just can't stop talking about it. One of the best sounds I have ever heard.

There is something wrong with you math saying the Silverado is $1-2 grand less then and equal equipment Dakota. I'd say the other way around. You do know the Dakota has at least $2000 in rebates right? The absolute most a Dakota could cost (Quad Cab, 4X4, SLT plus, with 5.9 auto and all other possible options would be about $27,500. You are pretty much saying you can get the Silverado loaded down like that for $26,000? Comparing regular cabs is even better for the Dakota. My R/T is costing about the same as the 2wd, ice cream man, v-6, silverado, with pretty steel 15" wheels. The drag race special Dakota with 4.7 and 5-speed could be had for under $14,000, which is stripped S-10 4 cylinder range. I just don't know who giving you the numbers, I'd need to see more details to believe it.

Please excuse any unwarranted ranting/flaming from those whom confrontation is the mode of intercourse they are most comfortable using.

What we lack a group in charm, we make up for with humor. Laugh it off.

Regarding the Chev / Dakota discussion. Go to http://www.edmunds.com/ and price the vehicles out there. Remember to consider all the rebates, holdback monies, and whatever else Edmunds recommends. I saved a ton of money on my Dak.

I used Edmunds then when to a dealer and made them an offer and they said yes. Actually I went to 5 dealers before I found one that would bite.

Don't give up, we don't want to loose you.

Why not just walk into the Dodge dealership and say, "That Silverado costs $1500 less than a Dakota. What kind of deal can you make?"
My guess is the Dodge dealer will bend over backwards to get you to buy the Dak instead.

Uhhhh...people, I used to drive a Chevy, a Ford (German Ford), and worked on them for a living as well (including imports).

I'm a Chevy/Dodge/Ford man...they all have their flaws and good sides.

If Andrew wants to buy a Chevy...let him. (Hehehehe...i'll still try to sell him parts.) ;)

Andrew, sorry ,me and my dak are in rancho, however there is a dealer in the folsom auto mall, also swift dodge is on arden way and bell. if you want to save money ,why not buy a used one? mine's a '98 i got it for 14 plus before tax and finance and it was in exellent condition. let someone else suck up the depreciation in cost/value. look at kelly blue book online for retail versus trade-in and go from there. check the sac bee also,do a little research take a little time ,,,unless you are in a hurry to part with your money.

After turning wrenches on all brands for a living for years, I can tell you, Ford twin I-beam front suspension is the most rugged factory suspension, followed by Dodge's innovative idea of rack&pinion steering on a truck, followed by Chevrolet, who doesn't really build a truck, but instead, a big car with a bed on the back. Unless it's one of the later model 4x4's, but then there's no way you'll ever see another 350 w/a 4-bolt main and a steel crank in one. I've seen the newer 350 blocks converted to the old configuration crack next to the dipstick weld. ALL new vehicles are over priced! Buy one that's two years old and put your own options on it. It's more fun to fix up a 2 year old truck than it is to fight over warranty work, (technicians only recieve approx. 1/2 pay, so they're already pissed before they lift your hood) and dreading that first door ding.

I hope some of what you say is based on personal preference instead of fact. Please, o please dont make me get a ricer. lets hear some bad pints on those.
