Subject: Did I do the right thing IP: Logged
Message: Ok, here's my situation. About 3 weeks ago I went and ordered a Patriot Blue V6 Manual CC w/ Deluxe, Power, Sport Plus. However, when I ordered the truck, I was pretty much at my limit as far as payments went. I figured I would be doing good on gas mileage and payments. Since then, my financial situation changed significantly for the better and I regretted not getting what I really wanted (V8, auto, fully loaded). So I called the dealer that I ordered the truck from and explained my situation. I said that I wanted to buy a better one that they had on the lot and I they could just sell my truck when it came in. They refused to do that because they said they wouldn't be able to sell a manual and would end up eating it. So I got pissed, left and bought the exact truck I wanted from a different dealer. The only thing that sucks is I lose a $200 deposit on my ordered truck. I justified by saying that if I am spending more than 20,000 grand, whats $200 when it comes to my satisfaction. Would anyone else have done the same thing?

Message: I think you did the right thing. Better to eat the $200 now then not be completely happy with your truck and eat that much depreciation in a year when you decide to get what you really wanted. The dealer never loses. While they may have more trouble moving a 5 spd, they can still do it. They lost a big sale over $200 and I think you need to let them know this. Jerks.

Message: Get your VON (Vehicle Order Number) from the dealer and call DC Customer Service to see if your truck has even been built...if not, demand your $200 back...if the deposit is on a credit card, deny the charges with a explanation, if paid for by check, stop the check, if paid by cash...pray...actually I'm not sure what your options would be here...

Message: No doubt, 200 bucks to not have to live with a V6 is cheap. You'll enjoy that V-8 everday, plus your motor won't sound like the lifters have all collapsed in a year. (no offense V-6 guys, but the 3.9 is extremely mechanically noisy after about 25,000 miles, my neighbors '99 with 35,000 miles sounds like it is full of loose ball bearings under the valve covers.........DC calls this normal)
Jack - 2001 cc sport, 4.7L, auto, 3.55open, (anyone have a posi unit for sale)
PS - force the issue with the local dealer, I believe you could get your money back

Message: Well, i argued with the local dealer and they said that I will get my deposit back as soon as they sell the truck that I ordered. So I can't argue with that I guess. I am already so happy with the 4.7 auto, that I could live without the deposit, of course don't tell the dealer that ;)
