When I went to the tire dealer to have my tires replaced, I was told by them that my 98 2wd needed new inner tie rod ends. Fine, go ahead, no big deal, right? Wrong. They tried unsuccessfully three times to get the right inner tie rod ends and got the wrong ones each time from their part sorces. They called the local Dodge dealer and was told by them that we would have to replace the whole rack and pinion.
After contacting this forum, I got replies telling me where to find the right part numbers. I called the tire dealer and gave him the numbers. He ordered them and installed them no problem. Thanks to all who replied.

Ok...so let me get this straight, you say "screw the dealer". It took some research for him to come up with aftermarket replacement parts. The dealer will offer to you what is available to them through the OE manufacturer. Keep in mind....that is their job. How would you feel if the dealer recommended that you use all aftermarket parts when available? Just so you know, lots of Mopar gear heads will use only original equipment. Oh, and for those of you who say "they want it that way" when an item is "dealer only", don't blame the OEM...blame the aftermarket suppliers. They have simply chosen not to keep up.
