KennyT,

Your what the problem is with so many people. No staying power, no loyalty, no concern for heritage.

"just went and bought a Chevy!"

Cripes. I have been a Mopar guy since I was about 6 years old. I really got into them in 1981 when I got the 1st one of my own (probably B4 you were born).

I have had 65 cars, trucks, and not one has been a chevy (just to main stream for me, sorry).

Enjoy though. And make sure you try a Honda next, and then switch to Ford, and then try a Camry.

You can come back to Mopar when your done playing with mediocre - put you to sleep - equipment.

Hurry back, we miss 'ya already...

mb, what kind of crack are you smoking, dude?

"Your what the problem is with so many people. No staying power, no loyalty, no concern for heritage."

Where was Chrysler Corporation's loyalty when the gave the entire company to the Germans? What's Dodge's heritage now? They sold out Dodge's heritage for a few dollars and split. Are we just supposed to keep throwing cash into our trucks on brakes and ball joints?

Kenny, I'm feeling the same pull after 25 years of Mopar. Benz is killing Chrysler and they just don't give a flying fukc about our loyalty, just our money. My neighbor just got a loaded Silverado and it's beautiful.

Please do not bring that shlt out here. Loyalty, heritage and a $1.50 will get you a large coffee. Take that bullshlt and cram it up your poop shute.

The crack I am smokin is wonderful.

You are looking at the corprate merger of two giants from a different angle than I is all.

I have no problem with two super powers joining to bring me a better product.

If Daimler had fired all the 'mericans and disolved the Mopar name completely I may have been upset. However, the race sponsorship continues (on many fronts) more solid Mopars are being designed and constructed (some better than ever - have you seen the new REAR DRIVE Chrysler Sedan that is BECAUSE of Mercedes & their involvement?), and the company seems to be going forward.

Sure, its not perfect, but its my Mopar corp, and I will stick with them, because I am not like so many of masses that have no staying power, no loyalty, no concern for heritage.

"...Loyalty, heritage and a $1.50 will get you a large coffee..."

THAT is what I am talking about... Those attributes USE TO get you more than coffee. THOSE were the days 'eh?

BTW, look at your new GM window sticker... There are A LOT more "German, Mexican, whatever" parts on those cars than you obviously are aware of. I hope you dont think that neighbors Silverado is all chevy.

Sorry mb......that was no "merger". The Germans OWN Dodge/Chrysler. There is no "Big 3", it's now "Big 2".

Chevy's are nice, enjoy it. I happen to like my Dakota better!

Sorry guys I have to disagree with the loyalty thing. I used to be a HUGE GMC buyer. My work trucks were GMCs my play trucks were GMCs. The trucks ran great with regular maintenance being the only thing they needed ( not counting the extras I added on winch lifts tires bla bla bla)
It took the dealer to switch me from GMC. they were being boneheads about the price on a new fleet of trucks I wanted so I said screw it Ill go to ford which met my offer and then some.

I personally could care less now what trucks I own as long as the dealer is giving me the best deal. Screw brand loyalty. I want the best price for the trucks i buy and I dotn care who makes it

im about o buy a dodge i think, I currently own an S-10, And probably always will own it, But for work I want something Bigger, yet not huge, but the Factory V8 will be nice for Towing Next summer. So My question is, why, when I come over here from s10forum.com, I see mostly the downplay of dodge trucks? Am I missing something? personally, I think Dodge is on the right track, and where-as I have never owned one, Ther rear wheel drive models, The Stratus R/T, the SRT series, Am I missing something as to why dodge owners are getting fed up with dodge? I think if anything the merger affected "Chrysler" more than dodge, and Chrysler gave dodge kinda free Reign for a bit. But I seriously need to know of any potential flaws in the dodge system, before i buy into it.

"Flaws in the Dodge system"?
What is it you mean by that exactly? Dodges sometimes break down. Is that what you wanted to know?
The only reason why you see some of the disappointment here that you may not have seen at an S-10 website would simply be that Dakota owners can and do expect more from their trucks than owner's of Rangers and S-10s. When the truck falls short of their expectations (it CAN happen), disappointment occurs. Dakotas are designed and engineered better. Do a web search for ownership satisfaction indexes and see for yourself.
I have now and will always have high expectations of my Dakota. I have had Rangers in the past. My brother owns an S-10 currently. I am definately more satisfied than my brother is (interior room, power and ride comfort are the biggest issues for him).
One other thing to keep in mind....other than the 4 cyl engine, all the Dakota engines have been used in the full size RAM trucks. Most (not all) of the transmissions have been used in the RAM full size tracks. Many other driveline components have been used in RAM full size trucks and even in the Jeep vehicles as well. S-10 and Ranger can not beat that kind of heritage.

I have always wondered why these guys would go & shoot themselfs in the foot by bashing their own stuff. For the exact reason you write about. Someone is bound to read this stuff and get a bad view point. I am all for speaking your mind, but have some restraint and dont blow it all out of whack. People are watching. The same people are poor rating their own cars on sites like EDMUNDS. Then they watch the resale value of their own cars plumit. Useally over something like frayed carpet, or cheap brake rotors, bad gas mileage. Not everyone can be smart I guess and think before they write. These are good trucks I will step right up and tell you that right now. Go try one and see for yourself.

I know, I said nothing to down play dodge, But so far, outta the 15 threads Ive read, Somebody has an issue with there dakota, by "Flaws in the dodge system" I simply meant over all company/truck building techniques? Everyone has them, S-10 are notorious for lean, Glove box breakage, ect. every company has its bad item. But I would rather my glove box break then my brakes. And I know the dakotas are bigger roomie, Note my comment on "I need a bigger truck" If I didnt, I would get the chevy.. duh? common, I didnt need sarcastic jerk-off remarks, I love my chevy, but I like dodge as well...heaven forbid I drive both?
