What do I need to get to hookup a small popup trailer that needs the trailer lights hooked up. I did not get the towing package so I only have the ball on my bumper, which I think will handle the popup. Thanks?

Check the rating on the bumper (in your manual) for the load rating. Compare it to the wieght of the popup. More over then that, I wonder how it will sit. You want the trailer to be level. Seems to me the bumper will be high. If it's under 1800 pound, you prolly don't need the tranny cooler, however they are always a good idear.

Your bumper will tow 2000 pounds... And if the pop-up is lighter than that, then you will be fine in "stock" trim.

I agree that a trans cooler is a "must do" on any Dakota though (towing or not).

Lastly... Go find a "Hoppy Light Mate" (any good auto parts store has them) for your wire set up. They "plug right in" and take only minutes to get you up & running with your lights.

Thanks guys. I will find the kit and plug her in. I have the 5 spd and it handles everything so far.
