Subject: coolant loss

i have a 88 dakota it has the 4cyl and it has a coolant leak and i cannot find the leak? but i cannot seem to get the fan to come on? would this make it lose coolant? please help.

The fan not running would not cause a coolant leak, athought it would aid overheating. First thing you'll wanna do it check your hoses. If they are all holding pressure (when engine has warmed up) and there are no leaks coming from them check your rad. Not sure about an easy way to do this, but pulling it out and leaving it on some paper is a sure way to find leaks.

If its not the hoses, the rad, the over flow tank (probably not, because then your rad will still be full) I'd take it to a mechanic because the only system left that I can think of is the cooling around the block itself.
