Subject: 2000 5.9l w/46RE Trans: Shifting Points

O.K. Actually, I have a durango with the same engine and trans as the Dakota. I haven't found what I'm looking for on any Durango boards, so here goes... I was wondering what the shifting point (what RPM) the 46RE transmission should shift at, and how far to adjust my TV cable, and in which direction. Currently, it shifts way to early (2100 RPM) and it's kind of sloppy or mushy. I just want to have firmer shifts, at higher RPM. Any ideas?

By the way, I just replaced the Governor Pressure Sensor, and Governor Pressure Solenoid last night, and serviced (new ATF+3 and Filter) the transmission. I think the reason the shifting points are off however, is because I installed a K&N FIPK about a year ago, and probably did not set the TV cable back to stock properly (considering I didn't even know what it was at the time...)

Hope this helps for a little background...

Thanks again!
