hey,

I posted this on the V6 board, want to see if I get more responses here.

I just took my 98 v6 slt 2wd in for an alingment and, big suprise, the lower ball joints as well as tie rod ends were shot.

Now, I've looked at a bunch of different threads on this site and it seems that this is a pretty common problem. While there is a lot of good information floating around most of the threads consist of "yea, it happened to me too." I'd like to try and replace them myself and was wondering if there was a good thread that had how to do it, w/out all the "me too" complaints.

I know Moog parts are pretty popular so I'm probably going to go with them.

Also, the shop said only the lower ball joints needed to be replaced. However, after seeing all the problems people are having, would it be a good idea to replace both upper and lower at the same time? The Haynes repair manual has instructions for replacing the lowers, but it says that to change the uppers requires the whole upper control arm to be replaced. Is this true? I thought I saw a few thread where people were able to change the just the ball joint and not the control arm.

thanks for any help
-ken
