ok for all you who have painted some plastic pieces on their daks i need some info.

I am going to be painting my door handles and tailgate handle and my mirrors body color.

my question is what kind of prep work did you do to get them ready for paint?

primers, cleaners, ect...

also is there a good place to get the paint besides the dealship?
they charge an arm and a leg for little 8oxz cans, like $8 bucks a piece if i remember correctly.

my paint code is PB3 ( intense blue)

thanks for the help!

Get an estimate from some of your local body shops. There can be as many as 12 variations of the color match on any given color, highly unlikely a color like Intense Blue will match out of a spray bomb. Shop around, it may not be as expensive as you think.

My Durango just got the driver's side wiped out because some lady did not know how to drive. While it was in the body shop I asked them to match the door handles to the body. The paint they are using is the same paint that is on the plastic bumper covers and molding. It is suppose to be much more durable than the regular paint. Cost is $125 to remove all door handles, paint and the re-install.

The paint the shop uses on your bumpers and molding has an additive called a flex agent. This prevents a movable part to spider web (cracks in paint).See ya
