Subject: puting r/t wheels on quad cab

Message:
HI, looking for some advice. I have an 01 quad cab sport plus 4.7 auto 24000 miles and stock goodyear LS tires are nearing the end of their life. I have the tire/handling pkg so the stock size is 255/65/16. I want to put the 17x9 r/t rims and tires on but wondering what the best choice is for tires... I 'm considering the following sizes: Which set up works the best for a plus 1 set up? I would especally like to hear from others that have done the same thing but any advice would be helpful

255/55/17 (stock r/t size)
255/60/17
275/50/17
275/55/17

*** ALSO considering the following brands and models in each size.. anyone that has these tires on there truck I would also be interested in hearing your option

Micheln pilot LTX 255/55/17
Dunlop sport rover gtx2
&
Yokohama geolander ht-s g052 275/55/17
Bridgestone dueler h/p d680 275/55/17

SWEET LOOKING RIDE MAN sorry to hear you dont have it. I just spoke to tire rack and they recomended the 275/55/17 tire since it is closest to the original overall diamenter. The stock 255/65/16's are 29.1 in vs the 275/55/17's at 28.9in
the 255/55/17's stock rt tires are 28.0

so I think I'll be putting on the 275/55/17's since they are the closest..... tossed between the yokohama geolander ht-s go52 and the bridgestone dueler h/p..... any suggestions?

my two cents

Hey

If you're gonna invest time and money on new wheels and tires, don't put RT wheels on your QC.

Get some 20s and have a unique setup.

Believe me you will be glad you did. I am.

hey two cents thanks for your 0.02... you have and pics of your set up? I thought about doing 20 in they have the rt wheels after market wheels in that size. however I don't want to have any problems with rubbing or through off the computers or speedo... since you have 20in how did you compensate with the speedo and has it effected any of the computers?

Thanks Pat

I think the speed reading is taken...somewhere else. Doesn't matter what size tires you have anymore. Oh, and a good reason for getting R/T wheels as opposed to 20s is they are way cheaper than 20s and still look great, as DakUSA proves.

Nice picks (Just Got One)! I think I'm gonna go with the 275/55/17's (28.9 in) as they are the 2nd closest in overall diameter from the stock 255/65/16 (29.1)... I looked into the size you have 255/60/17 (29.0 in) but there aren't many choices in that size. so I decided to go with the 275/55 size since they are only 2 10ths of inch difference(29.0)
