Subject: electric or flex fan?
IP: Logged

Message:
Just started having some warm days here in s.c.This is the first I've run the air with the new engine and I've noticed something.Traveling down the road the temp is fine but when sitting less than a couple of minutes it rises sharply"over 200".I know this is normal and to be expected when running a 318 in the summer stopped with the air running, but I don't think it should rise as fast as it is,or as high.Is it the flex fan? Will the electric fans from flex-a-lite put out more air than this damn flex? Also should I go with a lower temp. thermostat if so what temp? Please advise!

I run an electric fan with a 180 degree thermostat with my 318, and I can idle in the heat with ac cranked and the needle barely moves...never even gets close to the middle line. I love it!

A few years ago I replaced my themostat with a 180 and while in cooler weather it runs cooler, in hot weather it runs at the 200 degree area. I have searched on and off for the last couple of years for a flex fan that will work with the reverse rotation and the Dodge single nut coupler and have had no luck. I know that from past experience you could run a electric fan to assist with the factory fan, and with a large enough electric you could replace the factory fan.
