Most of you do not know that I write for various medias on car/truck issues including classics, muscle cars, customs and streetrods etc. Not only do I write in nationally known magazines, but also build my own rods and customs. I also show my cars at national events. Why am I telling you this.....because sometimes things that are found out over in the show arena translate to the street in very good ways. This is good!

I use a product called 3M Gloss Enhancer that comes in gray colored spray bottles available from NAPA and other 3M vendors. It is a professional product that is very inexpensive to get. This product is exceptional at providing a "just polished look and feel" to any clean painted surface without the polish and elbow work. There is real magic in the way the chemistry works in this bottle to achieve a super shine and gloss.

I encourage those of you that like that "glass smooth" look and feel after every wash to try this. It also keeps dirt and dust at bay just like polishing. The way I use it on my 2002 Dak Quad is immediately after washing I use a blade to get most of the water off then what water is left I use in conjuction with the 3M product. Simply mist sparingly over a couple of panels and smear (you have to smear it for it to work) over the panel in combination with the left behind water all with a terry cloth towel. The towel can be slightly damp and actually helps the process. Buff to a shine. You will be surprized at how the "total shine or package" will have more gloss and "glass smooth" look to it that just a washed car. It also protects against bird droppings and acid rain. Your next wash will take it off entirely so it does not build up. Just do it all over again. A bottle should last you a season.

When detailing a clean car, use a slightly damp terry cloth absorbant towel to smear the mist on panel by panel. Do not apply to hot surfaces, but warm is okay if you get on it immediately.

Just a show tip for your trucks. Email me at hotrodsrj@aol.com with your likes on the product should you use it.
