no sh!t sherlock, i mean commonsense. i used a propane torch today which broke the bolt loose from the hanger but it still won't come out all the way. what is the best way to torch it out. it's the driver's side less than 4 inches from the gas tank so i don't want to get the area too hot any suggestions?

At this point I would think to keep hammering on it, just try not to hit it so hard that you deform the threads and you should be able to reuse the bolt. I think that once it breaks free it will come right out.

One thing I have heard that works on header bolts and the such is to put a couple pieces of candle wax at the interface then heat the bolt with the torch till the wax mellts and let it cool.. repeat a few times and this should draw the wax in and lubricate the bolt. Then it should tap out easily enough...
