I own a 2002 Quad cab, with 4,500 miles. When I shift from park to reverse or reverse to drive, drive to reverse. I hear a noise come from the bottom of the vehicle. Sort of a real bad creaking door noise. The dealership said it was normal in Dakotas when shifting. Something about the shifting is engaging and dis-engaging the disc brakes. This sound kind of shady to me, Anybody heard of this?
Thanks
Barry

I have had the exact same problem with my 02 cc slt+ 4x2. Since new it has done this and I have been to the dealer three times and they say it is normal. I say it is BS. It now has 6200 miles on it and is getting a little worse.

I hear this noise too. 2700 miles on the truck--bringing it in this week for the first service and I'm going to ask about it. I find that if I either barely touch the brake or press the brake really hard all the way down to the floor when shifting from R to D or back, the noise doesn't happen, but when I press the brake normally, it does. So maybe it does have something to do with the brakes and transmission.
