well, i have decided i am going to go get a dakota 4.7l with a 5-speed and the new stampede group, but as we all know, dealers don't like to carry 5-speeds anymore. So how long would it take to get my dakota if i ordred it form a dealership? Would i pay for it when i order it or when it ships in?

I got my 4.7L 5-speed QC back in December and it only took about 4 weeks. I was waiting and waiting for them to call me with a build date but instead they called to tell me that my truck was rolling off the hauler. Most dealers just require a down payment to process the order.

Don't settle for whats on the lot, unless of course, it's EXACTLY What you wanted.
01, 4.7, 5spd, QC, etc. etc. etc.
took about 5 weeks to get it here in TX.

My '02 took 6 weeks here in CT. Better hurry up though. They won't be taking orders for 2003's much longer.

My '99 R/T took about 3 weeks to arrive. Dealer said 6-9 weeks average. And some dealers require a down payment, others do not, but you won't pay in full till it arrives and you accept delivery. You need to make sure you inspect the truck before you accept it. It can be damaged in shipment, or could come missing some options. I ordered mine with 4W ABS and only the premium CD player. It got shipped with 2W ABS and the CD/Cassette player. Dealer knocked $400 off the invoice price(which is all I paid) for not having the 4W ABS, and didn't say anything about the stereo.

Ordered QC 4X4 4.7 AWD 5 spd auto. Got it in 4 weeks (it came 3 weeks ago). Dealer wanted $500 deposit.

Here's an alternative. I found my truck in Sept. 2001 after a 4 hour search on www.dodge.com. If the dealer is a 5-star dealer (about 60% are),you can pull up dealer inventory and window stickers. Narrow your search to a price range you think your specs will fall in, or what you are willing to pay. I searched a 400 mile radius of my home town and found my Dak 100 miles away. The real plus was that dealer did not apply add-on stickers or documentary fees; easier to get to "first base". I even used an internet quote from another dealer for leverage on the one I bought! What have you got to lose, but an entertaining time on the web? 2001 Dodge Motorsports Edition/RC/4.7/5-spd./3:92: love it!

My '03 4wd cc sport plus came in on the 9th, that was 7 weeks... 7 long weeks...

Don't move so quick on getting a Dakota. There are so many good deals right now on most makes.The Dakotas advantage used to be their low price, now most better makes are in the Dak's price range. There are Harleys and Lightnings at 28 and 29k out there as well as WRXs at 22k with 0%. All I am saying is look around you might be surprised. I wasn't happy with the performance of my R/T even thogh it was bargin priced. So look around!

the dealer that i am ordering from is gonna get me a 2003 CC sport plus with stampede package, 4.7l five speed for right around $19k.
