I'm still pissed because I haven't been able to pull ANYONE. (meaning: noone wants to run) The closest I have had was a Tundra, and I didn't realize he was racing until 45MPH and then I had to make a right turn in about 100 yards. That and when an Integra tried to out run me on a back road. That was amusing, the guy couldn't even out corner my SLT :)

Now, my dad pulled out a Celica w/in 5 minutes and my brother in law pulled out an S-10 Extreme in 2. WTF?!

No Kiddin man, what year GT's for sure, cuz Ive driven an automatic 4.6 and that dude would straight haul a** for what it was. The cam in those things is unreal, that sucker pulled harder and harder up to redline and then spun in 2nd and its an auto.. I just don't think my truck at present mods would beat a new GT without positrac.
With positrac like an R/T has, it might beat em to 60, but I KNOW my truck will beat a bone stock R/T every time...

mjhipp carefull about making statements that you will beat a "bone stock R/T" everytime...

Unless you are running some very good mods that's a bold statement!

One of my co-workers has the 4.6 powered mustang GT. His best track time is 14.6.

If you can't beat that.. then a stock R/T is going to give you one hell of a run.

BlackR/T, you know yourself that stock 5 spd 4.7's beat stock R/T's, so the only ones that need to be careful are the ones that try not to pay up when the just lost a bet against the 4.7 5 spd..
Dont get mad just because you paid twice as much for a truck with some stickers and a cheaper engine that gets worse gas mileage.
Just get a 4.7

99 is the newer boxier body style.

One of the best ways to know is by the rear lights... the earlier ones had vertical lines on the lights and later ones had horizontal.

You guys with your Bogus race stories are full of it. I have an R/T and there is no way you can beat a new GT let alone 2! You get on here and feed each other this horse sh!t and everyone feels better about have a R/T. Why can't you be honest and let Dodge know with your buyers dollars and not buy their crap. We know the 4.7 is faster, as well as most $15,000 to $20,000 cars and trucks. The R/T is a rip off, and saying you modded the sh!t out of it to be as fast as a stock GT is stupid, it should of been fast from the factory! We have to stop kidding each other and speak the truth or Dodge will continue sell their half a$$ed performers!

R/T,

I hear ya on the performance, but I don't doubt that he has beat GT's. 98 and lower 4.6 GT's ran VERY high 15's, so not much to brag about there... I beat one so bad at the track (over 2 seconds) that the announcer actually asked, "was that a GT?" after saying our times.

I also have many Mustang kills at the track. Yeah, the 98 and older 4.6's are dogs, but the newer ones aren't really all that either. I have seen stock 98's run low 16's. Notchlx could probably tell you what they all run stock. He runs at the same track I ran at the last 2 years, and knows the mustang crowd better than I do.

Here is an updated pic of my GenII with GenIII wheels, if anyone is interested. My (outdated) timeslips are posted here as well:

Sorry Black R/T, I meant twice as much as mine, since my truck cost $11,500 with 8k miles in 02' and its an 01' , just raggin ya.
As far as just streetside racing goes, R/Truck, EVERYBODY knows the capabilities of the 4.7 5 spd are higher up to 60 and in the 1/4 when theyre both stock, and that was the information I was goin on, so if you dont like it you can talk to EVERYBODY..... Anyway, I did have trouble running an R/T on the Hiway a couple months back at 80+ but I was still pullin on em'. I didn't downshift to 4th cuz I was too sure I would win, but if I had I wouldve beat him even worse...
Honestly I dont want to run my truck to death until its set up like I want it, and then Ill take it to the track, but until I get some positrac theres no way Im going to the track looking like a dumbass spinning through 1st and 2nd and never hookin up.......
that'll come soon enough.......

Get your butt to the track and show us what you can do. Stock to Stock is the way your type always wants to do things, well sweetchuck I'm not stock and your going down if I line up to ya. So stop acting like a big shot, cause there is always someone faster out there. It's something we all have to deal with, now I will get off my soap box. Get the positrac installed and the 3.92/4.10 gears, it will make a huge difference.

I am pretty sure the tires I have make final drive very near to what stock tires on 3:92s would be, my tires are 5" shorter than stock, so it could be lower, and I did notice a HUGE difference.

Hey Black R/T , would you race w/o posi trac...
Didn't think so..

How well does positrac affect wheelspin on these trucks? Does it fully eliminate it?

Thanks Alex. It's built to be a total sleeper. Only thing that gives it away is the exhaust. The Gibson is pretty loud.

The wheels will require grinding of the upper control arm and spindle if you don't use wheel spacers. I went the spacer route, and didn't have to grind anything. Let me know if you need details.

The pics and videos are just some stuff my friends have sent me over the last couple of months. Some funny stuff on there!

Thanks again for the compliment

I get a good laugh from the 4.7-5.9 debate. I mean, who gives a sh*t if a 4.7 5sp will hang with an RT when they're both "stock". They're all SLOW when they're stock. It's a pretty well known fact that, once modded, you can't compare that lil' V8 to the 360. If you really want to compare engine to engine, see how an auto 4.7 does against an auto 5.9..lol Just be satisfied with your little economical 4.7,and stick to racin the ricers.. You 4.7 boys have some sorta Ego trip(or is it a inferiority complex?)you really need to let go.

What gives you that idea?

Last time I checked folks were turning 1000 rear wheel hp from 3 liter inline sixes, its all about how much you want to spend...
Cubic inches mean ALMOST nothing anymore, True, it may take a little more cash to get the 4.7 running faster than the 5.9, wait it already is, but its still anybody's race....
Thats an uneducated statement.
Thats like saying you cant compare a honda 4 banger to the LS-6 , but a ton of little "Ricer Boys" would spank your a_s_s in the 1/4, and Id be proud as hell to actually win some of those 8 second 1/4 mile drags. Im proud of anybody that can make a Honda faster than a Vette.
Youre really not that smart are you.

That little V-8's block could handle more hp than you or I could ever wish to try to control on any track, and you know that. BMW used to turn 1100 hp from a 1.4 L 4 banger and said that was the most "Reliable" hp the engine could handle.

So that Little V8 means nothing. Go pull up next to somebody in a BMW M5 and tell him all about his "little" 5 liter, and watch him spank your _a_s_s_ ALL MOTOR.. 394 hp, 390 lb ft, quicker than a stock Vette with its little 5.0. @ 3800 lbs, And dont even talk about power to weight, or "Yeah but once I get this" cuz mod for mod , youd never catch one, even with your "big" 5.9.

What about those old 454's that made 230 hp and 325 lb ft, sounds like the 7.2 cant hand with a sllightly opened up 4.7 huh.

Why did chevy go from a 7.2, to a 5.7, to a 5.3?

Dont even crack on chevy either. Dodge is no better.....

When it all comes down to it, how much money ya got?

End of conversation.

I said ALMOST nothing, there are hp limits to every engine block, and for a 6 cylinder, about 1500 hp is pushing it, so they run HUGE blocks and even they can barely handle 3000 hp......
They don't get more than one or 2 runs out of a motor at that power, I think..

Which further proves my point that you can crank more hp out a 4.7 than anyone knows what to do with for a daily driver so the size difference b/t the 5.9 and 4.7 is beside the point, EXCEPT for the fact that they did away with the 5.9.....

With the newer cooling passages and oil passages in the 4.7 it could quite possible handle more than the 5.9???????????? Who knows , and cubic inches is NOT the whole point in this discussion.
