Subject: Where the Hell Are My 8 Speakers?

Ok, got me the RAZ stereo system on my new 2001 DAK QC, brochure and DC says it is a 8 speaker Infinity system, I count four up front, only two in the back...do those speaker grills on each of the back doors, hide two speakers each?

Please tell me this isn't another one of those DC mid-year model changes (aka cost saving measures)

BTW, 6 or 8 speakers, the bass is quite the improvement over my 1998 Sahara sound bar system...should I say: Rock On?

The rear speakers are 2 way speakers so they count them as 2 in each door.

Hey DakUSA:

Quick response, thanks!

So, two way, as in one speaker handling both bass and treble ranges?

Thanks

MORE LIKE : Two-way, handling low-mid and high-mid... don't expect any bass or serious treble outta these.

Mine were nearly instantly replaced with Infinity Kappa series. The stock ones were suprizingly low performing speakers, although the front seperates sounded MUCH better.

I did, however, put Kappas in the front as well because I'm running an amp, and I figured that I'd blow up the stocks soon enough (don't know the power rating).

Can you guys do me a favor? I have the RAZ stereo also. When I got my truck the rear speakers made a popping noise and cut out at volume. The dealer just replaced the external amplifier for me and although it is much better, when I play the rear speakers only there is almost NO bass and a hint of a popping or "cutting out" noise. Are the rear speakers designed to cut out the bass? I am planning to bring it back again but I was wondering if you could try your rear speakers only with some bass and a lot of volume and see if they do the same thing. Thanks.

If it's the CD + cass radio, it's approximately 30 PEAK watts per channel, translating roughly into 15-18 watts of continuous available power (at a very high rate of distortion).

I too changed out all of my speakers. I don't have a Gen III Dakota, I have an '87 4x4 3.9l V6. I replaced my receiver (head unit) w/ Pioneer 4100 series 45 x 4 ch. 6.5 Pioneer 3-way in the doors, Pioneer 4-way 6x9 in seperate boxes in the rear, powered by a 135x2 ch. Power Acoustik Fire and Ice amp. All new 12 ga. lime green speaker wires. I installed it all myself. It sounds really good. Good bass with never ending highs and mids. No 5x7 in factory positions but I'm thinking about adding some. Don't know yet. I have pictures of the system but not developed them yet. I will pretty soon, and hopefully have them posted for everyone to see. It isn't an extreme system, but it isn't very mild either. If you have any questions, just ask me!!!

2 tweeter in front in the apiliar, 2 midrange rin the front doors, 2 speakers in the rear doors and 2 behind the rear door opening down by the back of the cab. The rear speaker fires inward and the vinyl pannel that covers them are used as a baffel to enhance bass. Section 8A in the 2001 Dak Service Manual.

I was wrong about speaker location!!!! That info only applies to extened cab not the Quad Cab. I checked my QC today and it does not match my service manual and the tweeters are in the door not the a pilliar. I appoligize.

Umm, in your previous post sandman you noted that 2 of the speakers are in the rear doors?? I hate to be the nit-picker here, but my club cab doesn't have rear doors. Was this an option I overlooked on the 2001?
