Subject: Any heads-up info on installing KVT910DVD?

I'm installing the Kenwood KVT 910 DVD unit into my 2000 QC today. Has anyone installed this or installed any other in-dash television/dvd unit? Would appreciate any heads-up info from people who may have. I'm a bit concerned about installing the television antenna.

Thanks guys,
Jeff

Jeff,
If you don't already have the wiring harness that goes to the radio, save a couple of bucks and goto Kmart. In the electronics section, where they have their car radios, there is a wiring harness for Chysler/Dodge ($6.99). Using this harness will keep you from hacking up the factory wiring. If you use one of these harnesses, remove the gender changer from the connectors that will remain on the end of the factory harness that will still be in the dash after removing the factory radio.
This worked great for me when I replaced my factory radio with a Kenwood 8017. The Infinity speakers sound a hell of alot better when I hooked uo the Kenwood to them.
Also, be sure to hook the wire on the new radio side that is labeled "P"(goes to an amp)to the blue wire on the truck wiring. You have a powered crossover in the truck that requires power anytime the radio is turned on. If there is no power to the crossover, you will not have audio.
If you hook up the power ant. wire from the radio to the blue wire on the truck wiring, you will get audio only when the tuner is on and no audio when your CD/DVD is playing. This because the ant. wire from the new receiver goes dead when you select a source other than the tuner(remember the powered crossover ?)

I hope this helps make your job easier. Have fun, I did.
Roger

Hey-

I just picked up the 910 today and I am going to install it in a 2001 pathfinder. I saw what you are talking about with the ant. Doesnt seem to hard to install, just wondering if someone is going to see it and break in...

Did you install it yet? Any tips for me? I got the wiring harness and that seems like it is going to save me a lot of time. Let me know how it goes
